Freelance full-stack developer · Porto & remote

From the first screen to the systems behind it.

I'm Hugo Almeida, a full-stack developer building websites, custom web applications and the backend services that power them. I care as much about APIs, automation and deployment as I do about the interface your customers see.

Services

Web experiences and the software that makes them work.

Need a sharper website, a custom dashboard or a process that runs automatically? I work across the stack and scope the solution around your business, rather than forcing every project into the same template.

Websites & redesigns

Fast, credible websites for businesses that want a clearer digital presence. I combine responsive design, accessibility, performance and technical SEO.

  • Business sites and landing pages
  • Redesign and responsive interfaces
  • Performance and SEO foundations

Full-stack applications

Custom applications that go beyond a static website: interfaces, authentication, APIs, databases, admin panels and dashboards that work together.

  • React and Next.js applications
  • REST APIs, authentication and SQL
  • Dashboards and internal tools

Automation & integrations

Practical scripts and integrations that connect services and reduce repetitive work, including scheduled and background workflows.

  • Python scripts and data workflows
  • Third-party API integrations
  • Background processes and automation

DevOps & infrastructure

The engineering foundations that keep a product deployable and easier to operate, from Linux and Docker to CI/CD and hosting setup.

  • Linux and Docker services
  • GitHub Actions and CI/CD
  • Cloud hosting and deployment support

Engineering depth

Comfortable across the stack. Particularly at home behind the scenes.

My interests lean towards backend engineering, automation and infrastructure, but I enjoy building complete products. These tools reflect experience from professional, academic and personal work.

Applications & data

Hands-on experience across UI, backend services and relational data, including application architecture and integration work.

Cloud & delivery

I work with the systems around the code: automated builds, containers, Linux services, deployment and operational troubleshooting.

Automation & cross-platform

Projects that combine external services, background processing and applications for different devices.

Selected work

Real code, different problems, one engineering mindset.

Process

A straightforward path from idea to deployment.

Whether the project is a landing page or a data-backed product, the goal is to understand what matters, build it well and keep it maintainable.

Understand

Define the audience, workflow and business goal before deciding whether the right answer is a website, an application or an integration.

Build

Implement maintainable interfaces and, when needed, the backend services, data model, authentication and integrations behind them.

Deliver

Prepare the hosting, deployment process, performance and relevant SEO checks so the result is ready to operate and evolve.

Experience

Software development and infrastructure, in practice.

Alongside freelance work, I coordinate IT infrastructure at NEI-ISEP, supporting Linux systems, deployments, databases and the services behind student platforms. I have contributed to full-stack event software and completed web development internships at ISPGAYA and NECHO TECHLAW.

I am currently studying Computer Engineering at ISEP, and I bring an engineering perspective to the websites and applications I build for clients.

More about my background

Questions

Finding the right scope for your project.

Do you build complete applications or only websites?

Both. I work across frontend, backend, APIs and databases, from responsive business websites to authenticated applications, dashboards and internal tools.

Can you improve an existing website or codebase?

Yes. Redesigns, new features, integrations, performance improvements and deployment fixes can be scoped without rebuilding everything.

Can you automate our workflow?

Tell me how the current process works and which tools are involved. I can assess whether a script, API integration or background workflow makes sense.

Do you work with clients outside Porto?

Yes. I am based in the Porto area and work remotely. We can start by discussing the goal, requirements and scope of your project.

Have a website, product or process in mind?

Share what you're trying to build or improve. A short explanation is enough to start a conversation about a website, full-stack application or integration.
